Engineering Test Pilot

Overview

Moog Military Aircraft Group is seeking an experienced Engineering Test Pilot to join our team in Mineral Wells, TX. The selected candidate will conduct comprehensive flight test and evaluation projects for Moog Avionics, covering fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and non-standard aircraft. This role is pivotal in executing safe flight operations, validating compliance, and ensuring the operational effectiveness of advanced avionics systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert test pilot input on technology and product development to address man-machine interface requirements.
  • Serve as a DER/UM pilot, offering safety and regulatory guidance for flight test planning, techniques, reporting, and proposals.
  • Plan and execute development and certification flight tests on assigned aircraft.
  • Collaborate with flight test engineers to ensure precise aircraft configuration and objective attainment.
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data to determine performance characteristics and generate formal Flight Reports.
  • Perform FAA evaluation flights to support ODA and civil certification projects.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and classroom/aircraft instruction for customers and internal personnel.
  • Identify and communicate certification or system issues to Program Management and Engineering departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (dual-rated in rotorcraft and airplane preferred).
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time.
  • At least two years of test pilot experience on developmental flight test programs.
  • Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or equivalent training.
  • FAA Second Class medical certificate.
  • Ability to operate cockpit flight controls requiring: 150 lbs. of rudder force, 120 lbs. of elevator force, and 90 lbs. of aileron force.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations; ability to obtain ODA Unit Member or FAA Flight Test Pilot DER designation (previous designation preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $190,000.00 – $220,000.00 annually.
