Taquan Air | Chief Pilot

Job Description:

Chief Pilot for a scheduled 135 float plane operation Year around.

Must have ASES experience.

Responsibilities/Duties:

* Conduct the approved Taquan Air Flight Crew Training Program to include notification of the Federal Aviation Administration as to the training schedule and current Federal Aviation Administration policies as requested and required.

* Maintain Pilot Certificate and Training files: 14 CFR 135.63(a)(4).

* Maintain qualifications and currency as Pilot, Instructor Pilot, and/or Check Airman in at least one aircraft operated by Taquan Air.

* Ensure that aircraft and equipment are available for training and directs training as well as testing for all flight crewmembers.

* Coordinate the availability of aircraft with the Director of Maintenance for training flights.

* Maintain a current list of all aircraft.

* Implement and monitor the Hazardous Material program as prescribed in 14 CFR 135 and 49 CFR 175.

* Ensure pilot qualification list and schedule is up to date.

* Ensure that Taquan Air aircraft checklists are current, accurate, and in accordance with the applicable regulations.

* Ensure that pilots adhere to standard procedures as prescribed in the applicable regulations and Taquan Air policies by frequent in route inspections and check rides as required by the Federal Aviation Administration and Taquan Air.

* Ensure that current publications and operational information per 14 CFR 135.81 including all required charts for Visual Flight Rules are made available to the PIC.

* Comply with other duties assigned by the Director of Operations.

* Report to and assume the Director of Operations role during the Director of Operations’ absence or position vacancy.

* Ensure SMS is up to date and safety compliant.

* An associate degree with an aviation related, or business administration major is required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and training management work experience may be substituted.

* Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Federal Regulations and airline industry.

* Meet all requirements of 119.71.

* Must have extensive knowledge of a float plane operation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical data, safety rules/regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to write management reports and correspondence.

* Ability to develop and proof operational materials.

* Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees.

* Strong planning and organizational skills.

* Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Training Requirements:

* Able to qualify as a line Captain in both of the aircraft that Taquan Air operates DHC-2/DHC-3T.

* Stay up to date on current industry events, regulatory developments, and relevant information to the aviation field.
