Chief Pilot
Job Summary:
The Chief Pilot holds a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency in all company flight operations. This role involves comprehensive operational oversight of flight crews, strict compliance with all company policies and FAA regulations, and leadership in training and standardization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs all aspects of flight crew training in accordance with the company training manual.
- Manages crew scheduling for all flight operations.
- Ensures compliance with all time and duty requirements.
- Coordinates operational policies and training matters with relevant departments.
- Maintains and oversees flight crew standardization.
- Manages all necessary operational documentation including proficiency records, flight schedules, duty reports, and correspondence.
- Ensures the availability of current flight kits and approved aircraft checklists.
- Disseminates essential operational information such as routes, airports, NOTAMs, navaids, and company policies.
- Maintains and provides current copies of regulatory materials (AIM, FAR Part 91, and FAR Part 135).
- Submits required flight crew reports to the FAA.
- Designates and manages check airmen to uphold FAA and company standards.
- Ensures pilots maintain current route qualifications and complete required proficiency checks.
- Manages aircraft/rotorcraft flight manual revision services.
- Responsible for notifying the Principal Operations Inspector of new revisions within 15 days.
- Evaluates, disseminates, and incorporates AFM/RFM updates into training programs and operations.
- Chairs the Pilot Hiring Committee and participates in pilot candidate interviews.
- Maintains an up-to-date pilot roster for the entire company fleet.
- Leads monthly pilot meetings to ensure clear communication and compliance.
- Serves as a Company Check Airman for at least one aircraft type (including full types 293, 297, 299) and for oral examinations.
- Acts as a Company Instructor for initial and recurrent pilot training.
- Monitors the release of all company flights for operational oversight and compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Possesses a Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single-Engine Land).
- Possesses an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate (Multi-Engine Land and Instrument Airplane).
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time in an airplane.
- Minimum 600 hours as PIC in a turbine-powered airplane.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a FAR 135 PIC.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience.
Additional Considerations:
As a Director-level role, the Chief Pilot is required to provide a minimum of 30 days’ written notice prior to resignation. The position also encompasses performing other duties as assigned by the President or Director of Operations.
