Aviation Captain - DHC6 Twin Otter
Company Overview
Skybus is seeking experienced Captains to join its esteemed flight operations team. This exciting opportunity involves operating the versatile DHC6 Twin Otter aircraft, primarily supporting the vital Alderney Public Service Obligation (PSO) operation from Southampton Airport.
Position Details
This is a full-time role, with potential for part-time arrangements to be discussed. Flight hours will be in accordance with Skybus's approved Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Flight Time Limitations (FTL) scheme. Successful candidates will operate the DHC6 300 series fleet in a multi-crew environment. The primary base of operations will be Southampton, serving the Alderney PSO route. Occasional flights may also be required from the company's other bases, supporting the Cornwall routes.
Job Requirements
Skybus is keen to receive applications from candidates who possess the essential qualifications and can demonstrate relevant desirable experience.
Essential Criteria:
- Possession of a valid UK-issued Part-FCL-ATPL (full or frozen).
- A valid UK-issued Class 1 Medical Certificate with a minimum of three months' validity remaining.
- A valid instrument rating for a multi-engine aircraft, with at least three months' validity.
- Successful completion of a Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) course.
- Successful completion of an Aviation ÜAS Personnel Risk Training (AUPRT) course.
- A minimum of 1500 total flight hours, including at least 500 hours on multi-engine aircraft.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to provide employer references for the past five years to facilitate airside security pass applications.
Desirable Experience:
- Current or previous DHC6 Twin Otter type rating.
- Previous flight experience in turboprop aircraft.
- Flight experience in light multi-engine aircraft, such as the King Air, Shorts Skyvan, Islander, or Trislander.
- Flight experience in tailwheel aircraft, gliding, or similar disciplines.
- Experience operating within regional airlines, smaller operators, island communities, or in freight, medevac, or similar specialized operations.
Remuneration and Benefits
The starting salary for this position, based at a UK mainland base (Skybus), is £57,575, with annual increments applied up to year 11.
