Job Overview

Skybus and Aurigny Airlines are inviting applications for experienced DHC6 Twin Otter Captains to join their esteemed flight teams. This pivotal role offers opportunities for either UK mainland-based operations with Skybus or Guernsey, Channel Islands-based operations with Aurigny. The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with working hours adhering strictly to the company's CAA-approved Flight Time Limitations (FTL) scheme.

Role Description

The Captain will be responsible for the safe and efficient multi-crew operation of the DHC6 300 series fleet. Primary duties include conducting scheduled regional flights predominantly between the UK mainland and St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, or the UK mainland and The Channel Islands. There will also be opportunities for inter-base exchanges and ad-hoc charter operations, ensuring adherence to all aviation regulations, company procedures, and safety protocols.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Skybus and Aurigny seek highly professional and accomplished pilots who meet the essential criteria and possess desirable experience:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid UK-issued Part-FCL ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence), full or frozen.
  • Current UK-issued Class 1 Medical Certificate with a minimum of three months' validity.
  • Valid Instrument Rating (IR) on a multi-engine aircraft, with at least three months' validity.
  • Completion of a Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) course.
  • Completion of an Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (AUPRT) course.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours total flight time, including at least 500 hours on multi-engine aircraft.
  • Demonstrated fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive employment references covering the last five years for airside security pass processing.

Desirable Experience:

  • Current or previous DHC6 Twin Otter type rating.
  • Significant flight experience in turboprop aircraft.
  • Flight experience in light multi-engine aircraft, such as King Air, Shorts Skyvan, Islander, or Trislander.
  • Experience in tailwheel aircraft, gliding, or similar aviation activities.
  • Operational experience within regional airlines, small operators, island communities, freight operations, air ambulance (medivac), or similar challenging environments.

Remuneration & Benefits

The remuneration package for this Captain position is highly competitive, reflecting the expertise required:

  • For the UK mainland base with Skybus, the starting salary is £57,575, with structured annual increments up to year 11.
  • For the Channel Islands base with Aurigny, the starting salary is £69,557.28.
