Responsibilities:
The First Officer collaborates closely with the Captain and performs a diverse range of duties to guarantee the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction. These responsibilities include:
- Pre-Flight Planning and Preparation: Collaborating with the Captain to meticulously plan each flight, utilizing weather information, company policies, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections to verify aircraft airworthiness in accordance with FARs and company procedures.
- In-Flight Operations: Safely and effectively operating the aircraft under the guidance of the Captain, strictly adhering to FARs, company procedures, and instructions. Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, manuals, and operational procedures.
- Communication and Situational Awareness: Providing clear and timely communication to the crew and passengers regarding flight conditions, including turbulence and other operational factors. Remaining vigilant and adaptable to changing situations, effectively responding to potential emergencies with composure and professionalism.
- Operational Efficiency: Supporting on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all scheduled report times, departure times, and minimum turn times. Ensuring proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo while at the terminal.
- Professionalism and Continuous Improvement: Presenting a professional demeanor and adhering to the company's uniform dress code. Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance piloting skills and knowledge. Demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and maintaining the highest standards of conduct.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Meet the minimum FAA and company requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate (ATP written preferred)
- Satisfy the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements as set by the FAA and company
- Prior customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information to crew, passengers, and air traffic control
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure and in time-sensitive situations
- Ability to maintain composure and react decisively in emergency situations
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 75 pounds, and maneuvering within confined spaces
- Flexibility to travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours with limited notice
