Lead Pilot in Command - Gulfstream G450 - Chicagoland Area
Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks an experienced and motivated Lead Pilot in Command to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to operate a Gulfstream G450 based just outside of Chicagoland in Gary, IN (GYY).
Exceptional Flight Department Leadership Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to lead a three-pilot account flying approximately 300-350 hours annually under Part 91 and internal Part 135 regulations (no retail charter). The aircraft benefits from the support of a full-time Maintenance Technician and dedicated hangar space.
This position prioritizes work-life balance. The owner values quality of life, with the trip calendar typically known one to two months in advance. The three-pilot crew (Lead PIC, PIC, and SIC) ensures a manageable workload and flexibility. International trips are scheduled with ample notice for thorough planning and crew coordination, and travel home between flight segments is frequently approved.

Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Pilot in Command, you will:
- Lead Flight Department Success:
- Manage client relationships, balancing client needs with EJM protocols.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events.
- Oversee flight department administration, including supplies, subscriptions, and crew scheduling.
- Support and mentor flight department crew members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure Safe Flight Operations:
- Ensure crewing and trip assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks.
- Utilize Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefings to mitigate operational risks.
- Maintain strict adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct comprehensive pre-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is mission-ready.
- Oversee ground servicing procedures, including fueling, oil, and oxygen services.
- Deliver thorough passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulations, prioritizing passenger comfort and safety.
- Employ effective Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) techniques.
- Deliver Exceptional Service:
- Provide top-tier service to aircraft owners and passengers, consistently seeking opportunities to elevate the EJM experience.
- Partner with crew members and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and consistent service delivery.
- Maintain Proficiency & Compliance:
- Maintain currency on all regulatory and company-required training.
- Actively participate in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program.
- Ensure all crew members maintain the necessary qualifications and adhere to company policies.
Qualifications
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience.
- Prior corporate/business aviation experience preferred.
- FAA Type rating in Gulfstream V series REQUIRED.
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3,500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1,500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2,000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
- International experience preferred.
