Chief Pilot, Part 135 Operations
Position Summary:
The Part 135 Chief Pilot is a vital role at Metrea, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance within our flight operations. This position demands an individual with exceptional leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of FAA regulations. The successful candidate will uphold Metrea's stringent standards for flight operations, pilot training, and safety procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Reports directly to the Director of Operations (DO).
- Exercises operational control as authorized by the DO.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Company Manuals, and all related policies and procedures.
- Manages the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRD) process, determining crew member hiring eligibility.
- Holds responsibility and authority over all flight crew members employed by the company.
- Acts as a liaison between crew members and other management personnel.
- Plans and modifies routes for company aircraft in Part 135 operations, as required.
- Oversees the assignment and scheduling of all Part 135 pilots.
- Maintains an adequate roster of qualified, current, and available pilots who meet company requirements at all times.
- Ensures that no person is assigned or retained as an active crew member without meeting the requirements and currency of CFR 91 and 135, and verifies proper certification is included in each crew member's record prior to assignment.
- Establishes a comprehensive ground and flight training program for Part 91 and Part 135 crew members that meets or exceeds FAA and company standards.
- Monitors crew member currency and legality, promptly removing any crew member from the schedule prior to the expiration of any applicable qualification requirement.
- Prepares and distributes pertinent crew member instructions, bulletins, and manual information.
- Serves as Pilot in Command (PIC) in Part 91 and Part 135 operations, adhering strictly to all applicable provisions and regulations.
- Represents the company to clients and other external entities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Chief Pilot oversees all pilots assigned to Part 91 and Part 135 operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Current FAA Multi-Engine ATP pilot certificate.
- FAA Class I Medical Certificate.
- Beechcraft King Air 350 type rating.
- Total flight time experience of 3,000 hours, with 1,500 hours of multi-engine turbine time.
- 1,000 hours of PIC experience, including 300 hours in the King Air 350 aircraft.
- Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work extra hours when necessary.
- Ability to obtain a US Passport.
- Ability to obtain necessary visas.
- Must be able to complete required training, drug testing, and, as needed, a medical examination in accordance with program requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and success in aviation operations, preferably with Part 135 operations.
- Must be able to attain a DOD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of FAR 135 regulations.
- International PIC flight experience.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a degree in Aviation or Aviation Management.
Work Environment:
This role involves a combination of office-based work and active flight operations. The candidate should be prepared to travel as needed and be comfortable with the physical demands associated with aviation work.
Special Position Requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo rigorous pre-employment checks, including background checks, drug testing, and medical examinations.
- Ability to obtain necessary visas and a valid passport for international operations.
- This role has supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a clerical, office setting. Standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, are routinely used.
Physical Demands:
While this is a largely sedentary role, some physical abilities may be required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may be adjusted based on departmental and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available as business demands require.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
