Aviation professionals will play a critical role in commanding and delivering flight crew training on highly modified Dash 8 aircraft, equipped with advanced surveillance technology. Flexible Work Options and Career Development

  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Opportunities are available in Cairns, Darwin, and Broome for Training Captains. Alternatively, a 14-on / 14-on FIFO roster is available from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney. Simulator Instructor roles are based in Melbourne or Brisbane.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Training Captain or Simulator Instructor, individuals will provide essential leadership and support to flight crews. Responsibilities include diligently, quickly, and professionally executing training and checking activities to ensure mission success. This vital role involves developing Dash 8 pilots through comprehensive training and checking conducted in both the aircraft and simulators. Successful candidates will be instrumental in the professional development of flight crew members, contributing directly to the operational readiness of the airborne surveillance team.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

  • Australian Citizenship with a current passport.
  • A valid CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical certificate.
  • Australian ATPL(A) (Airline Transport Pilot Licence).
  • A minimum of 1000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) in multi-crew operations on type-rated aeroplanes.
  • An Australian Flight or Simulator Instructor Rating.
  • For simulator roles: A type rating training activity endorsement on any multi-crew type-rated aircraft.
  • Eligibility for an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) and Australian government security clearances.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Salary: Training Captains commence from $212,961. Simulator Instructors commence from $250,503. (Note: A 6% increase is scheduled for 2026, with 2% annual increments).
