First Officer - Search and Rescue Fleet

Overview

Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia is seeking experienced First Officers who are prepared to advance their aviation careers within a vital, life-saving Search and Rescue (SAR) fleet. In the first year, First Officers can expect a salary of $112,449.98 plus 12% superannuation, with Captains earning $175,796.73 plus 12% superannuation, complemented by generous allowances.

Do Work That Matters

Based in Perth, Melbourne, or Cairns, successful candidates will operate advanced Challenger 604 jets under contract with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). The role involves critical missions such as offshore rescues, emergency response, and humanitarian aid, directly contributing to saving lives within Australia's vast Search and Rescue area.

Role and Responsibilities

As a First Officer within the CL604 fleet, individuals will be responsible for:

  • Conducting search and rescue missions in dynamic, time-critical environments.
  • Precisely operating advanced mission systems with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
  • Upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism at all times.
  • Supporting aircraft readiness and mission planning collaboratively with the crew.
  • Contributing to the ongoing innovation and enhancement of SAR capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency (subject to ITAR nationality restrictions).
  • An Australian Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL(A)) and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEA).
  • A valid CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Eligibility for an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC).
  • A minimum of 2000 hours total flying time, including 500 hours command/ICUS and either 500 hours multi-engine or at least 250 hours turboprop or Grade 1 First Class Instructor Rating (FIR).
  • The ability to reside within a 30-minute radius of their assigned base when on night standby.
