Position Summary
A highly regarded, long-established corporate flight department seeks an experienced Pilot in Command to operate its Global 7500 aircraft. This role supports both Part 91 and Part 135 operations, encompassing domestic and international travel. Reporting to the Director of Aviation, the Pilot in Command is fundamentally responsible for the paramount safety, security, and efficiency of all flight operations. They hold ultimate authority for the safe conduct of assigned flights, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensures the safe operation of the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, with the discretion to cancel flights based on weather or other critical conditions.
- Guarantees that all flights are conducted in strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implements necessary adjustments during flight as dictated by en route conditions to maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Exercises primary responsibility for the safe and prudent conduct of all flights, upholding industry and company standards. Possesses exclusive and final authority regarding flight initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination, irrespective of passenger or executive directives, particularly concerning weather, aircraft mechanical status, or other hazards.
- Maintains primary responsibility for the initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of all flights in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Flight Operations Manual. The Pilot-In-Command, Chief Pilot, or Director of Aviation may elect to delay or divert any flight that cannot be operated safely.
- Maintains professional competence and control over the assigned crew and aircraft, ensuring compliance with Company and government rules and regulations to achieve optimal safety, security, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
- Completes all trip paperwork accurately and in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensures thorough and complete understanding of all flight aspects with the Second in Command (SIC).
- Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secures the aircraft post-flight, including arranging for hangar storage when necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtains the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
- Files or causes to be filed flight plans with the FAA or relevant ICAO state ATC facilities.
- Analyzes area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Performs other duties as may be required.
Accountable to the Director of Aviation for the safe conduct of assigned flights. Specific duties include: verifying weather, all applicable NOTAMs, and determining fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements; calculating aircraft weight and balance; ensuring all flight planning requirements are met; verifying crew licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas are valid; conducting thorough pre-flight inspections; briefing passengers as per specified requirements; operating the aircraft within operator procedures and limitations; ensuring compliance with customs, immigration, and sabotage laws; completing post-flight duties, including reporting itinerary deviations; recording flight times and aircraft discrepancies; and sharing knowledge and coaching the SIC.
Demonstrates the ability to professionally communicate with aircraft owners and passengers, maintaining a high standard of service excellence. Possesses the ability to effectively collaborate with the maintenance crew, clearly communicating aircraft needs to the team.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Skills:
- Global 7500 PIC Type Rating is preferred; similar type ratings will be considered.
- Minimum of 5,000 total flight hours in similar aircraft types.
Special Skills:
- Intense focus on safety, compliance, and customer service.
- Ability to meet standard pilot physical requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- 5-10 years of experience piloting aircraft.
