Overview
This position presents an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain to join a dynamic aviation team. Reporting to the regional chief pilot, the Lead Captain plays a critical role in upholding company operating policies and procedures while prioritizing the safety, security, and quality of each flight assignment. This individual operates with pilot-in-command authority, bearing the ultimate responsibility for the safe execution of all assigned flights.
Minimum Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land experience
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command experience
- 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time
- 1,500 hours Turbine flight time
- 100 hours Night flight experience
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight experience
- 5+ years of aviation experience
- Flexibility to work varied schedules
- Willingness to travel extensively worldwide without restriction
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft, making critical decisions regarding departure times, routes, and flight cancellations based on weather conditions and other relevant factors.
- Maintain unwavering compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout all flight operations.
- Effectively manage the aircraft schedule and training requirements for the flight crew, collaborating with the Customer Service Representatives (CSR) and utilizing supplemental crew members as needed.
- Coordinate aircraft servicing, cleaning, and other logistical requirements with the Maintenance Manager.
- Supervise and review flight and duty records, along with other mandatory documentation, submitted by assigned crew members.
- Maintain the currency of all aircraft manuals, Jeppesen charts, and Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), delegating responsibilities as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Training to schedule crew member training and check rides in accordance with the annual training calendar.
- Proactively manage crew member time off and training events while ensuring maximum aircraft availability.
- Verify that all flight crew members report for duty in proper attire, demonstrating mental and physical readiness for duty.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to crew members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Actively participate in Lead Captain meetings.
- Provide support to the Account Director as required.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process for new flight crew members.
- Adapt flight plans as needed based on en route conditions to ensure the safe continuation of the flight in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency procedures, associated with the aircraft under their authority.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage as necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain and analyze the latest weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from authorized sources, including FAA flight service stations.
- File or delegate the filing of flight plans with the FAA or relevant ICAO state ATC facilities.
- Thoroughly analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended airport of landing and alternate airports.
- Execute the duties of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) following the guidelines of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program as applicable.
- Conduct or delegate the responsibility of passenger safety briefings to the second in command.
- Provide comprehensive training and knowledge transfer to the second in command, preparing them to assume the role of Pilot in Command in emergency situations or for future advancement.
- Submit accurate and timely leg manifests and End of Day (EOD) reports to operations control.
- Actively promote a culture of safety by openly sharing information regarding safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the chief pilot and director of safety.
- Understand that while duties may be delegated, the responsibility for their successful execution remains with the Pilot in Command.
- Maintain a flexible approach to responsibilities, taking on additional duties as assigned.
- Serve as a Brand Ambassador for Jet Aviation, representing the company professionally in interactions with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands
This position requires the physical ability to handle, feel, and reach with hands and fingers. The role involves frequent standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The Lead Captain must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, including overhead lifting. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment
The Lead Captain will work in a variety of environments, including heavy maintenance settings and upscale customer areas. Moderate noise levels are typical, with occasional exposure to high-volume noise from aircraft arrivals and departures. Vibration is a frequent occurrence, and occasional fuel fumes may be present. This position requires a willingness and ability to work in all weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures during certain times of the year.
