Lead Captain - Phenom 300
Jet Aviation is seeking a qualified and experienced Lead Captain for a Phenom 300 aircraft, based in Sugar Land, Texas. This position is located onsite in Houston, TX (zip code 89071). The Lead Captain will report to the regional chief pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Lead Captain exercises Pilot in Command authority on all assigned flights and holds the final authority for the safe execution of each flight.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure flight operations are conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate aircraft schedules and training with flight crew and CSR, utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing and cleaning.
- Ensure assigned crew members submit and review flight and duty records and all other required documentation.
- Maintain current aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/EFBs, delegating tasks as necessary.
- Coordinate crew member training and check rides with the Manager of Training based on the annual training calendar.
- Coordinate time off and training events with crew members while maintaining optimal aircraft coverage.
- Ensure flight crew reports for duty in appropriate attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Mentor and coach crew members to support their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Attend Lead Captain meetings.
- Assist the Account Director as requested.
- Participate in the flight crew hiring process.
- Implement necessary changes dictated by en route conditions, ensuring flight continuation aligns with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log, immediately reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine if deferred maintenance is appropriate.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure a flight plan is filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable security program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as needed, while retaining overall responsibility.
- Other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
