Position Summary
The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for the Gulfstream 650 reports directly to the Lead Captain, adhering to all company operating policies and procedures. This role is paramount for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations, with an unwavering emphasis on safety and quality. The PIC exercises ultimate authority over all flights to which they are assigned, serving as the final authority for the safe execution of each flight.
Main Responsibilities
The Gulfstream 650 Captain will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key duties:
- Safely operating the aircraft, including determining departure times, routes, and making decisions to cancel flights based on weather or other critical conditions.
- Ensuring that all flights are conducted in strict compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implementing all necessary changes as required by en-route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company guidelines.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner, aligning with industry best practices and company standards.
- Accurately completing all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensuring a comprehensive understanding and coordination with the Second-in-Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee. The PIC will determine, as directed by the DOM, if an inoperative item can be deferred per the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) or requires immediate repair, completing the discrepancy log accordingly.
- Verifying that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or ensuring the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
- Analyzing area, en-route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and designated alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program or private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conducting required passenger safety briefings or delegating this duty to the Second-in-Command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second-in-Command to prepare them to assume PIC duties in an emergency or during an upgrade to PIC in the aircraft type.
- Completing and sending the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completing and sending the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Taking an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- While the PIC may delegate duties, the ultimate responsibility for those duties remains with the Pilot-in-Command.
- Representing Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Performing other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours Turbine time.
- Minimum of 100 hours Night flight time.
- Minimum of 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including irregular hours and on-call assignments.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
