Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) assumes ultimate authority and responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. This pivotal role requires strict adherence to all company operating policies and procedures, with direct reporting accountability to the Lead Captain. The Pilot in Command serves as the final authority for flight safety and operational integrity, ensuring all missions are executed to the highest standards of safety, security, and quality.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbine flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours of Night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional aviation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making informed decisions on flight cancellations based on prevailing weather or other conditions.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout all phases of flight.
- Implement necessary adjustments during flight due to en route conditions, ensuring continuous compliance with company protocols and aviation rules.
- Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, aligning with established industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Foster comprehensive communication and understanding with the Second in Command regarding all flight aspects.
- Document aircraft discrepancies thoroughly in the discrepancy log as they occur, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or designee. In consultation with the DOM, determine if an inoperative item can be deferred per the Approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) or requires immediate repair, completing the log accordingly.
- Verify that all flight crew members report for duty in appropriate attire and that they are mentally and physically fit for their responsibilities.
- Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft post-flight, including arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies such as an FAA flight service station.
- File or ensure the filing of flight plans with the FAA or relevant ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities.
- Conduct thorough analysis of area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended destination airport and designated alternates.
- Execute the duties of an In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) in accordance with the applicable standard security program (e.g., Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
- Perform required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
- Mentor and impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command, preparing them to assume Pilot in Command duties in emergency situations or for future upgrade opportunities.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and transmit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon conclusion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of safety-related information and promptly report all identified safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- While the Pilot in Command may delegate certain duties, the ultimate responsibility for their execution remains.
- Undertake other duties as assigned or required to support operational needs.
- Serve as a Brand Ambassador for Jet Aviation, representing the company professionally internally, externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and within the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands
The position requires the ability to perform various physical activities necessary for the essential functions of the role. This includes frequent use of hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching. Regular requirements involve standing, walking, or sitting. Occasional activities include climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The role necessitates frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds overhead. Essential visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the capacity to adjust and focus. Work Environment
The work environment for this role encompasses diverse settings, from heavy aircraft maintenance areas to refined customer service spaces. While noise levels are generally moderate, they can be high during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees will frequently encounter vibrations and may be exposed to occasional fuel fumes. The role requires the ability to work effectively in all weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, depending on the season.
Compensation Data
The anticipated salary range for this position is typically between $280,000 and $300,000 annually. Please note that this range is an estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. Actual salary offers will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, geographic location, and other specific requirements of the role.
