Lead Captain - Gulfstream 500
Jet Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Captain for a Gulfstream 500 based in Dallas, TX. The Lead Captain ensures the safe and efficient operation of flight assignments, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. He exercises Pilot-in-Command authority on all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of each flight. The Lead Captain reports to the regional chief pilot, adhering to company operating policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and make decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure flight operations comply with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate aircraft scheduling and training with flight crew and Customer Service Representatives (CSR), utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing and cleaning.
- Ensure timely submission and review of flight and duty records and all other required documentation from assigned crew members.
- Maintain currency of aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), delegating responsibilities as necessary.
- Coordinate crew member training and check rides in conjunction with the Manager of Training, based on the annual training calendar.
- Manage crew member time off and training events while maintaining optimal aircraft coverage.
- Verify flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Mentor and coach crew members to foster their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Attend Lead Captain meetings.
- Assist the Account Director as required.
- Participate in the hiring process for flight crew.
- Implement necessary changes dictated by en route conditions to ensure flight continuation in accordance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights safely and prudently, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure comprehensive communication and understanding with the Second-in-Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and, as directed by the Director of Maintenance or designee, determine if the item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Maintain thorough working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the latest weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended airport of landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the Second-in-Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second-in-Command to prepare them for Pilot-in-Command duties in emergencies or upon upgrade to Pilot-in-Command.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as appropriate, while retaining ultimate responsibility.
- Fulfill other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Compensation:
The likely salary range for this position is $318,000 - $380,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with experience, geographic location, and other potential requirements.
