Position Summary
The Captain, serving as Pilot in Command (PIC) of the Gulfstream 650ER, reports directly to the Lead Captain, ensuring adherence to all company operating policies and procedures. This pivotal role holds ultimate responsibility and final authority for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flights. The Captain is entrusted with exercising full PIC authority, prioritizing safety, security, and quality in every aspect of flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Captain is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Operating the aircraft safely, including determining optimal departure times and routes, and making informed decisions regarding flight cancellations based on prevailing weather or operational conditions.
- Ensuring complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for every flight.
- Implementing all necessary changes dictated by en route conditions to ensure flight continuity in accordance with appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner, consistent with industry and company standards.
- Accurately completing all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensuring a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and promptly reporting these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee.
- Consulting the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and, as directed by the DOM or designee, determining if an inoperative item can be deferred or requires immediate repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Confirming that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing, or causing to be filed, a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
- Analyzing area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and any designated alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program or private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or assigning that duty to the Second in Command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when upgrading to Pilot in Command for that aircraft type.
- Completing and transmitting the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completing and transmitting the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Taking an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegating duties as appropriate, while retaining full responsibility for their completion.
- Performing other duties as required.
- Representing Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate aircraft type rating.
- Maintenance of a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate is mandatory.
- A minimum of 4,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
- At least 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
- At least 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of turbine aircraft experience.
- A minimum of 100 hours of night flight time.
- At least 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Unrestricted willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands
The essential functions of this role require the employee to frequently use hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting are required. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may also be necessary. The role involves frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds overhead. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment
This role operates in diverse environments, including heavy maintenance facilities and upscale customer areas. Employees must be adaptable to varying conditions, including occasional exposure to vibration, fuel fumes, and all types of weather. The noise level typically ranges from moderate to loud, with periods of high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. Hangar environments may experience extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, depending on the season.
