Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) assumes a critical leadership role, reporting directly to the Lead Captain regarding all company operating policies and procedures. This position bears the ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flight operations. The PIC exercises comprehensive authority over flights, serving as the final decision-maker for ensuring safety, uncompromising security standards, and exceptional quality throughout every mission.
Minimum Requirements
Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
Ability to obtain and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
A minimum of 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight experience.
A minimum of 1,500 hours in multi-engine land aircraft.
A minimum of 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
A minimum of 1,500 hours in turbojet aircraft.
A minimum of 1,500 hours of turbine time.
A minimum of 100 hours of night flight experience.
A minimum of 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time.
At least 5 years of professional aviation experience.
Demonstrated ability to work flexible schedules, accommodating varying flight demands.
Willingness and unrestricted ability to travel extensively worldwide.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Operating the aircraft safely, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making informed decisions to delay or cancel flights based on weather or other prevailing conditions.
Ensuring all flights are conducted in full compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Instituting all necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company guidelines and rules.
Conducting all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering strictly to industry and company standards.
Accurately completing all required trip paperwork in accordance with current operational procedures.
Fostering a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command (SIC) regarding all aspects of flight.
Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and promptly reporting them to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee. The PIC will refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and, as directed by the DOM, determine if an inoperative item can be deferred or requires immediate repair, completing the log accordingly.
Verifying that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is physically and mentally fit for duty.
Maintaining comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies (e.g., FAA flight service station).
Filing, or ensuring the filing of, a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility.
Analyzing area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and designated alternates.
Performing the functions of the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of applicable standard security programs (e.g., 12.5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or delegating this duty to the Second in Command.
Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming PIC duties in an emergency or during their upgrade.
Completing and transmitting the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
Completing and transmitting the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
Actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and promptly reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
Delegation of duties by the Pilot in Command does not absolve the PIC of the ultimate responsibility for those duties.
Performing other duties as required to support operational excellence.
Representing Jet Aviation as a unified entity, both internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

The employee must be capable of working effectively in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. The typical noise level is usually moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals or departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and may occasionally encounter fuel fumes. A willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions are essential. Hangar environments may experience extreme hot and cold temperatures during different seasons of the year.
