Position Summary
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for adhering to company operating policies and procedures. This role is accountable for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flight assignments, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises authority over all flights assigned and serves as the final authority for the safe execution of each flight.
Minimum Requirements
- An Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time.
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- The ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions.
- A valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operating the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and/or canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensuring complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for every flight.
- Instituting necessary changes as required by en route conditions to continue the flight under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Accurately completing all trip paperwork following current procedures.
- Ensuring a thorough and complete understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and immediately reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Referring to the approved MEL and as directed by the DOM or designee, determining if an inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, and completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Determining that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized to operate, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or causing a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program (e.g., Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
- Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or assigning that duty to the second in command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when upgrading.
- Completing and sending the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
- Completing and sending the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Taking an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Duties may be delegated, but not the ultimate responsibility for those duties.
- Performing other duties as required.
- Representing Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the hangar environment is usually loud and temperatures may be extreme (hot and cold) during certain seasons.
