Position Summary
The Pilot in Command (PIC) reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of assigned flight assignments. With a primary emphasis on safety, security, and quality, the PIC exercises ultimate authority over all aspects of flight operations, ensuring the safe conduct of the flight.
Minimum Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate (must be obtained and maintained)
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing Flight Time
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land Flight Time
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command Flight Time
- 1,500 hours Turbojet Flight Time
- 1,500 hours Turbine Flight Time
- 100 hours Night Flight Time
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument Flight Time
- 5 years of aviation experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
- Valid driver's license
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, including determining departure times and routes, and cancelling flights as needed due to weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the flight.
- Implement necessary changes as required by en route conditions to maintain flight operations within company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct all flight operations in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies as they occur in the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or designee.
- Determine if inoperative items can be deferred or require repair based on the approved MEL and guidance from the DOM or designee, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from FAA Flight Service Stations or other authorized agencies.
- File or arrange for the filing of flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the 12.5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate the duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or during the Second in Command's upgrade to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to Ops Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to Ops Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues, and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- While the Pilot in Command may delegate certain duties, they retain full responsibility for all delegated tasks.
- Other duties may be required as needed.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with occasional high volume when aircraft arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may be extremely hot or cold during certain seasons of the year.
