Role Summary:

As a working leader, the Ground Service Team Captain will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Ground Service group. This includes leading, directing, motivating, and evaluating the performance of Ground Service Agents, while also performing their duties. The Team Captain plays a crucial role in achieving operational goals and ensuring adherence to company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Ground Service Agents during shifts, ensuring team success in meeting Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines' objectives.
  • Uphold and enforce proper procedures among Ground Service Agents.
  • Perform leadership duties such as flight assignments, scheduling, and agent management.
  • Undertake clerical functions, prepare reports, and assist with unexpected passenger needs or complaints.
  • Perform Ground Service Agent duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months of customer service or airline operations experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and motivate teams for optimal performance.
  • Strong active listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possession of a valid, unexpired driver's license issued by a US state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Ability to obtain USPS Mail Handling Certification.
  • Physical capability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • English language proficiency.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of customer service or community service experience.
  • Previous leadership experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting Rate: USD $21.54/Hr.

Additional Information:

  • This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Regular position.
  • Location: Portland, OR – Airport.
  • SIDA Badge Requirements: Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge may result in termination.
  • Regulatory Compliance: This position is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing for safety-sensitive positions.
