Position Overview:
George J. Priester Aviation seeks a qualified and professional First Officer / Second in Command (SIC) for a dedicated Challenger 350 flight department. This integral role supports the Pilot in Command (PIC) in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft during all flight phases. The SIC is responsible for close collaboration with the PIC to uphold compliance with company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and stringent industry standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring aircraft systems, managing communications with flight services, and contributing to a seamless and exceptional passenger experience. This position operates within a 3-pilot flight department based across Boca Raton, FL, and Chicago, IL, with an anticipated annual flight time of approximately 300 hours. The role demands a high degree of professionalism, acute safety awareness, and a strong commitment to customer service. This is an exempt position requiring flexibility to meet dynamic business demands.
Key Responsibilities:
The First Officer / SIC performs a variety of essential duties, including but not limited to:
- Assisting the Pilot in Command (PIC) with comprehensive flight planning and execution, encompassing weather analysis, route optimization, aircraft performance calculations, and thorough pre-flight inspections.
- Ensuring strict adherence to all applicable regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the company's Flight Operations Manual.
- Vigilantly monitoring aircraft instrumentation and systems throughout all phases of flight.
- Operating navigational and communication radios as directed by the PIC, facilitating clearances and relaying instructions.
- Maintaining exceptional crew coordination and communication through effective Crew Resource Management (CRM).
- Providing constructive feedback to the PIC and fellow crew members to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
- Actively participating in the company's Safety Management System (SMS), focusing on identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Assisting with comprehensive pre-flight duties, ensuring the aircraft is clean, fully stocked, and prepared for departure, including verifying onboard manuals, charts, and passenger-specific amenities like catering.
- Supporting post-flight procedures and required documentation.
- Remaining alert to abnormal situations or deviations and being prepared to assume control of the aircraft in case of PIC inattention or incapacitation.
- Engaging in safety audits, contributing to corrective action plans, and supporting preventive safety measures.
- Providing superior customer service to passengers, prioritizing their comfort and safety throughout the flight.
- Supporting the PIC in addressing passenger needs and delivering a high-quality flight experience.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the First Officer / SIC position should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience:
- 500 to 2,500 total flight hours required.
- Minimum of 100 hours in multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft required.
- Turbine aircraft experience is preferred.
- Certifications:
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine instrument rating or higher required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- Skills:
- Strong operational knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and flight procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven capability to operate effectively as a vital member of a flight crew team.
- Proficiency in Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and flight management systems.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be able to report to the departure airport within 60 minutes for assigned charter flights.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull objects weighing over 50 pounds, such as baggage and equipment.
- Must hold a valid passport.
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods as dictated by the flight schedule.
