The Senior Flight Instructor is instrumental in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. Leveraging expert aviation knowledge and advanced facilitation skills, this role ensures client training seamlessly meets all regulatory requirements and adheres to FlightSafety Training principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare training materials that effectively support instruction delivery, ensuring alignment with client needs and applicable curricula.
  • Customize training scenarios dynamically to address unique client requirements during instruction.
  • Adapt instruction style and approach to provide tailored training solutions that resonate with individual client learning preferences.
  • Evaluate and measure trainee progress, making recommendations for qualification or identifying areas requiring additional training.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed training records for each client, contributing to their success in achieving specified objectives.
  • Provide constructive suggestions and solutions to client training challenges based on acquired knowledge and experience.
  • Monitor and maintain instructor qualifications in strict accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a positive role model, making tangible contributions to the organization's success and enhancing the overall customer experience.
  • Strictly adhere to and actively promote FlightSafety Instructor Performance Standards.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • In lieu of an ATP certificate, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
  • Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
  • Preferred: Earned and maintained FAA and/or EASA Technical Class Examiner (TCE) qualification.

  • Proficiency in common aviation regulations.
  • Intermediate facilitation and customer service skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction styles to accommodate diverse client learning preferences.
  • Capacity to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for courseware development projects.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment described herein are representative of those encountered and required for successful performance of the essential functions of this position. Duties regularly require use of hands for intricate object manipulation and controls; reaching with hands and arms; and verbal communication. The role may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensory evaluation of taste or smell. Physical range of motion must support manipulation of rudder and antitorque controls with both feet, operation of simulator controls from the instructor's chair, entry and exit from the simulator via ramp, movement between instructor stations, screen, and podium, and egress from a malfunctioning simulator in challenging orientations. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be capable of regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, and frequently up to 25 pounds. The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Potential exposure exists to high, precarious places, varying outdoor weather conditions, and occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate.
