Flight Instructor

Purpose of Position:
The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to all applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conducts pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develops and prepares training materials that effectively support training delivery, meeting client needs in accordance with the curriculum.
- Evaluates and measures trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as necessary.
- Completes accurate and detailed training records specific to each client, supporting their success in achieving objectives.
- Identifies client training issues and seeks appropriate assistance prior to instruction.
- Maintains Instructor qualifications in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Holds an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, must meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Possesses a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and deliver instruction.
- Possesses fundamental facilitation skills.
- Demonstrates first-level customer service skills.
- Exhibits a willingness to be coachable and receptive to feedback for professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate through speech and hearing. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling.
The candidate must possess the physical range of motion to:
- Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
- Reach and manipulate various controls within the simulator device from the instructor's chair.
- Enter and exit the simulator device using the provided ramp.
- Move between the instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction.
- Exit a malfunctioning simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and may work in high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes/airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risk, radiation risk, and vibration may occur.
