Flight Instructor
FlightSafety International, the world’s leading professional aviation training company, seeks a qualified Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. Position Purpose:
The Flight Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that align with client needs and the established curriculum.
- Evaluate trainee progress and make recommendations for qualification or further training.
- Maintain accurate training records for each client, supporting their success in achieving objectives.
- Proactively identify and address client training issues, seeking assistance as needed.
- Maintain Instructor qualifications according to regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
- Alternatively, must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
- Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Possess first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be receptive to coaching and feedback to support professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role requires the employee to frequently use hands to operate controls and equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and potentially crawling. Specific vision abilities needed include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The ability to move and operate simulator controls with both feet and hands, enter and exit a simulator via a ramp, and move between instructor stations and podiums is essential. The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently. The work environment involves working near moving mechanical parts, potentially at heights or in variable weather conditions, and exposure to various conditions including fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, and vibration.
