Flight Instructor

FlightSafety International, the world’s premier professional aviation training company, seeks a highly qualified Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This individual will provide training in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles for clients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials that align with the curriculum and meet specific client needs.
  • Evaluate trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate training records, ensuring clients achieve their objectives.
  • Proactively identify training issues and seek appropriate assistance prior to execution.
  • Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is mandatory.
  • Alternatively, if an ATP certificate is not held, must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is essential.
  • Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments is preferred.
  • A preferred minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and deliver instruction.
  • Proficient first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
  • A strong aptitude for receiving and applying coaching and feedback to support professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role involves regular use of hands for manipulation, reaching, and communication.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensing.
The ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet is essential.
Must be able to reach and manipulate simulator controls from the Instructor's chair, and navigate the simulator environment, including entering and exiting via a ramp.
Ability to move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing.
Must be capable of safely exiting a malfunctioning simulator in extreme pitch attitudes.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The role requires lifting and moving up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, varying weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risk, radiation risk, and vibration.
