Purpose of Position:
The Flight Instructor will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction to clients, ensuring adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. This position is instrumental in guiding pilots towards achieving their training objectives and exceeding expectations.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive ground and simulator flight training to clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare high-quality training materials tailored to client needs, ensuring alignment with applicable curriculum and training objectives.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing constructive feedback and recommending appropriate qualification or further training as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed training records for each client, contributing to their success in achieving their desired outcomes.
- Proactively identify and address client training issues, seeking assistance from senior staff when required.
- Maintain current Instructor qualifications in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience:
- Must be eligible and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Hold an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Possess a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121 operations, or military training.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- In-depth understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage classes effectively and deliver engaging instruction.
- First-level facilitation skills, enabling efficient group interaction and learning.
- First-level customer service skills, ensuring a positive and supportive training environment for clients.
- Openness to coaching and feedback, actively seeking opportunities for professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks:
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Talk or hear.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb or balance.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Taste or smell.
- Possess physical range of motion to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate controls within the simulator device.
- Enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Move between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Exit from malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
