Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a critical role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator-based flight instruction. Adhering to stringent aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles, the Flight Instructor ensures the highest standard of training delivery.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare engaging training materials that align with the applicable curriculum and effectively meet individual client needs.
- Provide ongoing evaluation and assessment of trainee progress, recommending qualification or identifying areas requiring additional training.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate training records for each client, documenting progress and supporting their successful achievement of training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
- Maintain personal Instructor qualifications in accordance with current regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Minimum Experience
- Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must fulfill the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Strong first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires individuals to possess the physical dexterity to manipulate simulator controls, including rudder and anti-torque mechanisms, using both feet. The role involves frequent movement within the simulator and classroom environments, including entering and exiting the simulator, potentially from challenging positions. The ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.
The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious locations, and varying weather conditions. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibration should be anticipated. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
