Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor is a pivotal role within FlightSafety, entrusted with delivering exceptional ground and simulator-based flight instruction. This individual will adhere to stringent aviation regulations and uphold FlightSafety's renowned training principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training sessions, encompassing core, specialty, and enrichment courses.
- Developing and refining training materials to meet evolving client needs and align with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluating trainee progress, providing constructive feedback, and recommending qualification or additional training as required.
- Maintaining meticulous training records for each client, ensuring accurate documentation of progress and achievements.
- Proactively identifying potential client training challenges and seeking appropriate assistance in a timely manner.
- Maintaining personal Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience
- Full participation in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP certificate, candidates must meet the stipulated requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: Prior experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Comprehensive understanding of relevant aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Demonstrated first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Openness to coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role demands physical dexterity and the ability to:
- Manipulate simulator controls, including rudder pedals and anti-torque systems, with both feet.
- Reach and operate various simulator controls from the Instructor's station.
- Maneuver within the simulator environment, including entering and exiting via a ramp and moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium.
- Exit a malfunctioning simulator potentially positioned in a severely pitched attitude.
- Possess specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
The Flight Instructor will regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds. This role involves working near moving mechanical parts, potentially at heights, and exposure to various weather conditions.
