Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering meticulously to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare engaging training materials that effectively support training delivery, ensuring alignment with the applicable curriculum and fulfilling client-specific needs.
- Evaluate and meticulously measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or identifying areas requiring additional training.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate training records specific to each client, facilitating their success in achieving their desired training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek timely assistance prior to training execution.
- Maintain personal Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must fulfill the requirements outlined in:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver impactful instruction.
- Demonstrated first-level facilitation skills.
- Excellent first-level customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to support continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role requires the physical dexterity to operate rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms, manipulate simulator controls, and move within confined spaces. The candidate must possess the ability to enter and exit the simulator, including during simulated emergency scenarios. Excellent vision, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception is essential. The ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 25 pounds is also required. The work environment may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, high places, varying weather conditions, and potential hazards such as fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and electrical components.
