Simulator Second in Command

FlightSafety International, the world's premier aviation training company, is seeking a qualified Simulator Second in Command (SIC). This position is vital in maintaining the integrity of flight training programs. The successful candidate will act as SIC for both internal and external customer pilots during recurrent, initial, or generic training courses, adhering strictly to the established curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a competent Second-in-Command for clients in multi-crew aircraft training scenarios who arrive without a designated flying partner.
  • Maintain all required SIC pilot qualifications according to the standards of assigned programs.
  • Adhere to FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures for SIC qualification.
  • Ensure all certificates, ratings, and designations necessary for SIC duties remain current.
  • Serve as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency (G.E.D.) with two to three (2-3) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience:

Prior to commencing SIC duties, candidates must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings, and a minimum of 450 flight hours.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated fluency in English, encompassing verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse clientele.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in a second language may be required at some Learning Centers.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role requires frequent use of hands and arms, along with the ability to talk or hear. The candidate may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, or smell.

The candidate must possess a physical range of motion necessary to:

  • Reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
  • Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device.
  • Enter and exit the simulator using the provided ramp.
  • Exit a malfunctioning simulator even if the device is in a severely pitched attitude.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment involves working near moving mechanical parts, occasionally in high, precarious places, and potentially in varied weather conditions. There may be occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
