Simulator Second in Command – FlightSafety International

Purpose of Position:

The SIC is responsible for maintaining currency in assigned training programs. The incumbent will act as Second-in-Command for both internal and external customer pilots during recurrent, initial, or generic training courses, adhering to the established curriculum. This role focuses on providing proficient support to client pilots, not instructional duties.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Serve as SIC for clients training in multi-crew aircraft, providing competent support to pilots who do not have a flying partner.
Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with program requirements.
Adhere to FlightSafety International's Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
Maintain currency of all certificates, ratings, and designations necessary for SIC duties.
Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
Prior to commencing SIC duties, candidates must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings; a minimum of 450 flight hours is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Fluency in English (verbal and written communication).
Exceptional cockpit verbal communication skills.
Professional interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse clientele.
Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure environments.
Proficiency in a second language may be required at certain Learning Centers.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires a wide range of physical motion, including: reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls; reaching and manipulating simulator controls; entering and exiting the simulator via the provided ramp; and safely exiting a malfunctioning simulator in a variety of positions. The role involves regular lifting of up to 10 pounds, and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, varying weather conditions, and potential exposure to fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibration are inherent to the position. Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are also required. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
