Flight Instructor Position at FlightSafety International
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company, seeks a highly skilled and motivated Flight Instructor to join its team. As a Flight Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, ensuring the highest standards of safety and professional development for our clients.
Purpose of Position:
The Flight Instructor will provide comprehensive and engaging training to pilots, adhering to strict aviation regulations and FlightSafety's proven training principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ground and simulator training for pilots participating in core, specialty, and enrichment training courses.
- Develop and refine training materials to cater to client needs, ensuring adherence to established curriculum standards.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, offering recommendations for qualification or additional training as required.
- Maintain meticulous training records for each client, facilitating their progress towards achieving desired objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek assistance to ensure optimal training delivery.
- Maintain current Instructor qualifications, strictly adhering to all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- If an ATP is not held, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Compliance with 14 CFR part 61.153.
- Compliance with 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- Proficient knowledge of common aviation regulations.
- Exceptional teaching and classroom management skills.
- Demonstrated first-level facilitation abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback for continuous development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Flight Instructor position requires a combination of physical and mental agility. Regular duties include:
- Using hands to manipulate objects, tools, and controls.
- Reaching with hands and arms.
- Speaking and listening clearly.
- Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, and balancing.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Tasting and smelling.
- Exerting pressure and manipulating rudder controls and anti-torque mechanisms with both feet.
- Reaching and manipulating numerous controls within the Simulator from the Instructor's chair.
- Entering and exiting the Simulator via the provided ramp.
- Moving between the Instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction.
- Safely exiting a malfunctioned Simulator, even if in a severely pitched attitude.
- Possessing close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The role also involves lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently. Additionally, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts, in high or precarious places, and in outside weather conditions. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration may also occur.
