Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator-based flight instruction. This individual will adhere to rigorous aviation regulations and uphold FlightSafety Training principles to ensure the highest standards of training excellence.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare customized training materials that effectively support the curriculum and meet specific client needs.
- Evaluate and meticulously track trainee progress, recommending them for qualification or identifying areas requiring additional training.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate training records for each client, contributing directly to their successful achievement of training objectives.
- Proactively identify and address any client training issues, seeking timely assistance to ensure seamless training execution.
- Remain current and compliant with all regulatory requirements for Instructor qualifications.
Minimum Experience
- Must be eligible and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License from an ICAO member state.
- Candidates without an ATP certificate must fulfill the requirements outlined in:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Demonstrated first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role requires regular use of hands for fine motor skills, reaching with arms, and clear verbal communication. The Flight Instructor may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The Flight Instructor must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
This position involves working near moving mechanical parts and may require working at heights, in outside weather conditions, and exposure to potentially hazardous materials and environments.
