Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a critical role in shaping the future of aviation by delivering exceptional ground and simulator-based flight instruction. This individual is responsible for upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and adhering to FlightSafety's renowned training principles while adhering to all relevant aviation regulations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training courses, encompassing core, specialty, and enrichment programs.
- Develop and refine engaging training materials that align with applicable curricula and effectively meet client needs.
- Meticulously evaluate and track trainee progress, recommending qualification or suggesting additional training as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate training records for each client, ensuring their successful achievement of desired objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training challenges and seek appropriate assistance before and during training execution.
- Maintain personal Instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience
- Must be willing and eligible to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is mandatory.
- Candidates without an ATP certificate must fulfill the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, specifically without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating is required.
- Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desirable.

- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage classes and deliver engaging instruction.
- Strong first-level facilitation and customer service skills.
- Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to support continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires physical dexterity and the ability to:
- Manipulate simulator controls with hands and feet.
- Access and maneuver within the simulator cockpit.
- Move effectively between instructor stations and classroom settings.
- Possess visual acuity for close-up tasks, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may involve:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Working near moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibration.
