Lead Pilot in Command – Gulfstream G450 – Atlanta, GA
Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and a pioneer in aircraft management and worldwide jet charter services since 1977, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) for a Gulfstream G450 based at Atlanta, GA (KPDK). This Part 135 operation requires a collaborative individual to lead a two-pilot flight department.
Purpose of the Position:
The Lead PIC serves as a peer-leader, fostering effective crew resource management and exceptional client service. Responsibilities include active participation in the flight schedule, adherence to all PIC duties, and the completion of essential flight department administrative tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Leading Flight Department Success:
- Cultivates and maintains strong client relationships, proactively addressing concerns and seizing opportunities to enhance service.
- Collaborates closely with maintenance personnel to ensure adherence to all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events and routine tasks (database updates, audits, checklists).
- Manages flight department administrative tasks including invoice review, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling.
- Mentors and supports flight department crew members, fostering a collaborative environment that achieves departmental goals and upholds the EJM brand. Escalates relevant concerns to the Regional Chief Pilot.
- Oversees flight department administrative matters such as supply management (office and aircraft), subscriptions, and crew scheduling, including associated communication.
Ensuring Safe Flight Operations:
- Ensures crew assignments and trip planning fully comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes thorough flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance assessments for each flight.
- Employs Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to mitigate operational risks.
- Adheres to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates effectively with company personnel. Serves as Ground and In-Flight Security Coordinator, as defined by company policy.
- Executes comprehensive pre-flight checks, including maintenance status verification, recording all discrepancies according to SOPs.
- Oversees all aircraft ground servicing (fueling, oil, oxygen), ensuring compliance with SOPs.
- Delivers passenger briefings according to company policy and regulations, providing exceptional customer service and accommodating passengers' specific needs (including those with disabilities).
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) for clear and timely communication with crew and support personnel in all operational situations.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides superior service to aircraft owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM experience and resolving service deviations.
- Collaborates with crew members and internal partners to ensure consistent, high-quality service, effectively managing conflicts and challenges.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Adheres to the company Safety Management System (SMS) program, reporting safety concerns or non-compliance through established channels.
- Ensures all crew members maintain qualifications according to regulations and company policy.
- Oversees crewmember compliance with company policies and implements appropriate audits.
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience.
- Prior experience in corporate/business aviation preferred.
- FAA Type rating in applicable fleet required.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions.
- Minimum flight time requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
