The Role and Responsibilities

As a Captain, the incumbent holds ultimate authority and responsibility for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of each flight. This pivotal role demands exemplary leadership and adherence to Etihad's highest standards of professionalism:

  • Ensure the absolute safety and security of all crew, passengers, cargo, and the aircraft at all times.
  • Exercise full command and technical authority of the aircraft from taxi-out to final engine shutdown.
  • Lead and inspire the flight and cabin crew, demonstrating strong decision-making capabilities and effective Crew Resource Management (CRM).
  • Operate flights with a focus on efficiency and environmental responsibility, adhering strictly to company fuel and sustainability policies.
  • Consistently deliver On-Time Performance (OTP), meeting Etihad’s commitment to reliability and guest satisfaction.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Captain A320 position must meet the following essential criteria:

  • A minimum of 5500 hours of total flying time.
  • A minimum of 2500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours as PIC on the A320 Family aircraft.
  • Recent A320 Family flight experience within the last 12 months.
  • A valid A320 Type Rating with a minimum of 2 months validity at the time of joining.
  • Unrestricted and current ICAO ATPL.
  • Current and unrestricted on A320.
  • Unrestricted and current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Age not exceeding 59 years on the date of joining.
  • English Language Fluency (written and verbal) at Level 4 or higher.
  • Current TRE/TRI qualification is considered an advantage.
  • Note: For hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief, 75% of the total hours shall count towards the required minimums.
