First Officer
The First Officer assists the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in ensuring the safe, legal, and efficient execution of all flight operations, adhering to FAA regulations and the DST Flight Operations Manual (FOM). Their responsibilities encompass flying and navigating the aircraft, flight planning, coordinating special activities with ATC, performing pre-flight checks, and managing post-flight tasks. The First Officer communicates with customers under the direction of the PIC to ensure clear understanding of flight and schedule objectives, prioritizing safety. They will employ effective Crew Resource Management techniques, including briefing all flight participants on safety and egress procedures before each flight. The First Officer will report any mechanical issues or concerns to appropriate Maintenance personnel and the Chief Pilot, as directed by the PIC. They will also aid the PIC in completing all necessary aircraft administration documents, such as time tracking and manifests.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts pre-flight planning and inspections.
- Executes safe flight operations.
- Navigates and flies the aircraft.
- Performs in-flight monitoring.
- Communicates with air traffic control.
- Completes post-flight inspections.
Position Type and Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with the potential for variable work hours dictated by customer needs. Standard work hours are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however, evening and weekend work will be required as needed. The First Officer is expected to arrive at HGR within one hour of being called.
Travel:
Travel is required based on customer requests, and will include overnight stays outside of the normal working location.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial ASEL and Instrument Airplane rating.
- Minimum of 250 total flight hours for C208 aircraft.
- IFR Rating.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of 500 total flight hours for C208 aircraft.
Other Hiring Requirements:
- Current Passport with unrestricted international travel privileges.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizen status upon employment start date.
- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
- Current FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate.
