Instructor Pilot - Business Aviation

About the Role

CAE, a global leader in modeling, simulation, and training for civil aviation, seeks a dedicated and experienced Instructor Pilot to join its esteemed team. This on-call, fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity to leverage extensive aviation knowledge and exceptional communication skills to train the next generation of pilots. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering high-quality flight and ground school instruction, adhering to rigorous regulatory, CAE, and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive flight training in advanced flight simulators and ground school environments, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, CAE's approved curriculum, and specific customer requirements.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), guiding clients effectively through their training programs.
  • Upon meeting business needs and after 1.5+ years of service, there is an expectation to qualify as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) and a customer contract check airman.
  • Provide expert simulator, flight, or classroom instruction across assigned aircraft types for the issuance of licenses, type ratings, internal training, certificates, and pilot qualifications.
  • Conduct thorough and professional pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in strict accordance with CAE standards.
  • Fulfill essential administrative duties, including maintaining accurate training records, recommending remedial training when necessary, and diligently tracking personal instructional qualifications and activity.
  • Contribute expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of curricula and courseware as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a minimum of 3,000 flight hours.
  • Hold an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching, supported by strong communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and other internet-based programs.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in CAE's DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAAB 2000 Type Rating.
  • Previous experience as a 142 Instructor and/or Training Center Evaluator.
  • Prior experience in FAR 135 operations.
  • Experience flying business aircraft is considered a significant asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Possess the fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination necessary for detailed tasks.
  • Ability to remain seated in a confined space for 4-6 hours at a time with minimal breaks.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, up to 10 hours, with limited breaks.
  • Ability to perform movements including sitting, stooping, climbing, twisting, and turning.
