KC-135 Pilot Instructor

Position Summary

CAE is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated KC-135 Pilot Instructor to deliver expert instruction on KC-135 aircraft systems and operational procedures. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive training in diverse environments, including aircraft, classrooms, and advanced simulators. The instructor will also contribute significantly as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in curriculum development for new courses and fulfill essential administrative and support duties, ensuring the highest standards of readiness and mission effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The KC-135 Pilot Instructor will be responsible for a range of critical duties, including but not limited to:

• Providing comprehensive KC-135 Pilot procedures instruction across aircraft, classroom, simulator, and other training platforms.
• Delivering specialized Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Training (VTRAT).
• Conducting Crew Resource Management (CRM) training.
• Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the development of new curriculum and the review/revision of existing lessons.
• Proposing enhancements to training policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
• Fostering a positive learning environment that embraces new technologies and tasks.
• Executing ground training for aircrew members, encompassing diagnosis and remediation of student performance issues.
• Assisting with assigned project and development initiatives.
• Performing administrative functions such as scheduling, record-keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, security, and maintaining training programs and equipment.
• Maintaining physical capability to enter simulators, experience simulator motion, and ensure attendee safety during training.
• Possessing the stamina to conduct academic instruction in simulators and classrooms for up to six hours daily.
• Ensuring continuous proficiency in the operation of essential KC-135 Aircrew Training Devices.
• Maintaining the required aviation instruction credibility with customers, necessitating prior aircraft operating experience.
• Acquiring and sustaining proficiency in instrument procedures, take-off, landing, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for the KC-135 Pilot Instructor position should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• A minimum of eight years of total flying experience, including five years of military experience. This must include at least two years of KC-135 Pilot flight instructor and training management experience, with recent experience as a KC-135 Instructor Pilot or Evaluator Pilot being essential.
• Completion of a formal USAF Instructor training course.
• Demonstrated strong facilitation and data analysis skills.
• Ability to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.
• Capacity to acquire and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work overtime as required and willingness to work any shift or day of the week.

Essential Skills

Language Skills

The instructor must possess exceptional language skills, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. This role requires effective responses to sensitive inquiries and complaints, along with the capability to generate compelling oral and written presentations and proposals on intricate subjects.

Mathematical Skills

Proficiency in mathematical calculations is essential, encompassing figures, amounts, prices, commissions, percentages, and the ability to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Candidates should demonstrate strong reasoning abilities, including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. The ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is highly desirable.

Security Responsibilities

All employees are required to comply with company security and data protection/usage policies. The incumbent will be personally responsible for the proper marking and handling of all information and materials and must not divulge information to unauthorized personnel or outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources. Eligibility for a DoD Personal Security Clearance is mandatory, and due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Domestic and international travel as required.
• Ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
• Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.
• Ability to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, or other sounds to identify problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and their surrounding environment.
• Work typically occurs in a regular office environment but may involve exposure to areas with a risk of electrical shock and from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
• Will at times be exposed to conditions such as extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
