Direct Entry Pilot - A320 First Officer

Role and Responsibilities:

The A320 First Officer will be integral in upholding British Airways' commitment to exceptional customer service. The role presents exciting daily challenges and requires consistently performing to the highest standards. The successful candidate will embark on a defined career path, beginning with the short-haul Airbus fleet. Opportunities include transferring to a long-haul fleet or progressing to Captain on short-haul routes. Various roles outside of flying, such as training and pilot recruitment, offer additional career options.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current UK issued CAA Flight Crew Licence ATPL (A), fATPL (A), or MPL; or an EASA licence meeting the UK CAA's "Third Country CPL and ATPL licence conversion requirements" (route 3, 4, 5, or 6).
  • Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Height between 1.57m (5'2") and 1.91m (6'3"). Pilots exceeding 1.91m may apply, subject to a functionality check.
  • Demonstrated level of physical fitness.
  • Spoken and written English proficiency at ICAO level 6.
  • Valid passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiry.

Pilots holding an EASA license who previously held a UK Part-FCL license should include a copy of their previous UK license or proof of UK training in the application.

Additional Information:

  • Candidates unsuccessful at earlier stages of the selection process may reapply after specified periods (6 months for initial screening, video interview, capacity testing or assessment centre and 12 months for the SIM stage).

  • Long-haul suitability is assessed during the simulator assessment. A320 remains the primary recruitment fleet.
  • Successful candidates will enter a hold pool, receiving a maximum of two job offers. Declining a second offer necessitates a 12-month wait before reapplying.

Minimum Criteria for Application:

  • Hold a UK Part-FCL license;
  • or, hold an EASA license and meet the UK CAA's "Third Country CPL and ATPL license conversion requirements" (route 3, 4, 5, or 6).
  • Minimum of 500 hours or 100 sectors on a ZFTT satisfying aircraft type for BA Euroflyer consideration.
  • Minimum of 500 hours on the A320 within the last 12 months for British Airways short-haul consideration.
  • Minimum of 1500 hours on a ZFTT satisfying aircraft type within the last 12 months for long-haul consideration.
