Pilot – Aviation reports into the Corporate Administrative Office (CAO), specifically Global Operations Services (GOS) which has management responsibility for global real estate, facilities & construction, physical security, and corporate aviation. Corporate Aviation base operation is located at the Oakland County International Airport (PTK) and the function reports into the BorgWarner World Headquarters, Auburn Hill, MI.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The primary duty of the Aviation – Pilot is the effective operation of BorgWarner corporate aircraft with paramount focus on safety, efficiency, and passenger experience.

▪ Assure reliability, safety, service and security of aviation equipment; maintain compliance with all federal, state and company regulations

▪ Assure legal compliance with all FAA and company regulations; keep abreast of all innovations and new practices within the industry

▪ Perform pilot duties as required within the reasonable scope and responsibility of this position

▪ Perform the duties of Pilot-in-Command on BorgWarner owned or leased aircraft, to transport passengers, material or the aircraft itself. Maintain situation awareness at all times. Exercise good judgment when making in-flight and on the ground decisions

▪ Safely execute all flights by utilizing professional flying and flight planning skills in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration, and the policies and procedures of BorgWarner

▪ Utilize Crew Resource Management skills to ensure that all available resources are used, including checklists, instrumentation, other crewmembers, ATC, etc. Regularly review and maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, SOPs, FARs and ICAO
regulations. Maintain proficiency in other disciplines (i.e., Meteorology) necessary for safe planning and execution of the trip. Maintain flight currency requirements at all times

▪ Exercise final authority over the trip to ensure the safety of the passengers and aircraft. Maintain adherence to established FAA and BorgWarner standards

▪ Assure adherence to corporate aviation policies, procedures, and standards of operation

▪ Responsible for the domestic and international flight operations

▪ Develop and monitor appropriate currency of flight operations manual and associated cockpit checklists; ensure compliance with all department standards

▪ Assure that all required equipment, documents, and certificates are onboard the aircraft prior to dispatch

▪ Monitor weather conditions enroute that may affect the flight, i.e., destination weather, wind conditions, fuel supply, alternate airports, air traffic, etc.

▪ Notify Flight Coordination of his/her place of contact, arrival and departure times and passenger manifest changes

▪ Conduct self in a business-like manner, properly dressed, confident, courteous and showing evident good will that will be reassuring to passengers and indicate a concern for their safety, comfort and well being

▪ Perform additional tasks and acquire varying responsibilities as appropriate

Responsibilities include acting as the outward facing advocate for BorgWarner interests and internally exemplifying the necessary subject-matter-expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Experience – possess technical expertise in assigned aircraft; a demonstrated record of adherence to established FAA regulations and Company policy and procedures

▪ Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and a minimum of 2-years aircraft operation experience

▪ Minimum of 1,500 hours flight time, including multi-engine type rating in heavy turbojet aircraft

▪ Ability to make consistent, logical and effective decisions under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions, utilizing sound cockpit management principles

▪ Ability to adapt to processes and applicable laws across international boarders

▪ Strong organizational skills - detail oriented, ability to prioritize, be proactive, and require minimal supervision. Flexible, able to accept and manage change.

▪ Working Conditions include a requirement for a flexible approach to work and working hours as this position requires extensive traveling (50-75%)

▪ Education – Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or equivalent is preferred

▪ Must display professional bearing and utilize strong interpersonal skills.
