Position Overview: Lead Pilot in Command (PIC)

EJM is recruiting a Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) for a private client operating a Global 6000 aircraft based in Bridgeport, CT (KBDR). This role functions within a two-pilot operation supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician, operating under both Part 91 and Part 135 regulations.

The Lead PIC acts as a peer leader within the flight department, balancing active flight duties with administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong judgment, professionalism, and leadership to maintain a safe, compliant, and client-focused flight operation in partnership with the aircraft owner and EJM.

Key Responsibilities

Flight Department Leadership

  • Manage client relationships and communication to balance the needs of the client and EJM.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with aircraft events, audits, database updates, and checklists.
  • Oversee administrative duties, including invoice reviews, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling.
  • Mentor crew members, foster a positive culture, and report operational concerns to the Regional Chief Pilot.
  • Manage department logistics, including supplies, subscriptions, and internal scheduling communications.

Operational Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all flight assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks.
  • Utilize Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) methodology for risk mitigation and briefings.
  • Operate in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and fulfill duties as the Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator.
  • Perform comprehensive pre-flight tasks, monitor ground servicing, and record aircraft discrepancies.
  • Conduct passenger briefings and provide high-level customer service, including support for passengers with special needs.
  • Employ Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) to maintain clear communication during all phases of flight.

Service Excellence and Proficiency

  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the passenger experience and resolve service deviations.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure a consistent, professional service standard.
  • Maintain required training, recency of experience, and regulatory qualifications for all crew members.
  • Adhere to the company Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure all operational audits are maintained.

Requirements and Qualifications

Certifications and Licenses

  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license.
  • FAA Type rating in applicable fleet.

Minimum Flight Experience

  • Total Flight Time: 3,500 hours
  • Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1,500 hours
  • Pilot in Command (PIC): 2,000 hours
  • PIC Multi-Engine Land: 500 hours
  • Instrument Time: 300 hours
  • Jet Time: 500 hours

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions as defined by internal standards.

Compensation

The total cash compensation range for this position is $200,000 – $350,000, commensurate with experience.
