Job Title: Plane Captain
Overview
The Plane Captain is responsible for performing comprehensive aircraft handling, servicing, and daily/turnaround inspections. This role provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper personnel. The successful candidate will ensure strict compliance with safety, security, and maintenance protocols while providing professional customer service.
Essential Responsibilities

Execute duties associated with Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.

Perform daily and turnaround inspections according to established procedures.

Initiate and complete all necessary maintenance documentation.

Conduct aircraft fuel sampling and servicing in accordance with technical requirements.

Manage aircraft launch and recovery operations, including acting as a taxi director.

Perform aircraft towing duties and act as a brake rider as required.

Ensure proper aircraft tie-down and covering per established protocols.

Operate two-way communication equipment and portable firefighting apparatus.

Maintain compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.

Uphold industrial safety regulations and maintain work center cleanliness.

Protect government and company-owned equipment.
Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two years of experience in aviation maintenance or flight line operations.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to follow technical instructions.

Thorough knowledge of maintenance manuals, flight line operations, aircraft handling, and common hand tools.

Must successfully complete a certified plane captain training program and maintain semi-annual re-qualification.

Must obtain and maintain all required government or company licenses, qualifications, and clearances.

Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, balancing, stooping, and lifting up to 70 pounds.

Visual acuity requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Capability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

Must be qualified on all assigned Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) aircraft.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, or MH60 aircraft.

Prior certification in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD/TCP awareness, ISO 9001-2000, and Operational Risk Management (ORM).

Licensure for support equipment (tow tractors, nitrogen/engine wash carts, engine start units).

Demonstrated manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Hourly Rate:
$50.66 (As established by the Collective Bargaining Agreement).
