Fixed Wing Captain - American Express Aviation
American Express Aviation is a global, Part 91 corporate flight department dedicated to supporting executive movement through business jet and helicopter transport. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fixed Wing Captain to join our team and contribute to our mission of delivering safe, efficient, and professional air transportation to our clients.
As Pilot in Command (PIC), the Fixed Wing Captain will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the safe, efficient, and professional operation of assigned flight duties in accordance with all applicable local, federal, and international regulations, as well as company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrating leadership behaviors and abilities to coordinate crew functions and complete the mission effectively.
- Delivering world-class air transportation to American Express Aviation clients, collaborating with crew members, maintenance technicians, dispatch personnel, and aviation leadership to execute on the assigned mission.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Conducting pre-flight inspections and ensuring aircraft airworthiness, registration, and required documentation.
- Assessing weather conditions and NOTAMs, determining fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
- Calculating aircraft weight and balance.
- Ensuring all flight planning requirements are met and that crew members possess valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas (where applicable).
- Completing passenger safety briefings.
- Coordinating with Dispatch, Maintenance, other crew members, and external agencies in the planning and execution of flight duties.
- Operating the aircraft in accordance with standard operating procedures, aircraft limitations, and applicable FAA/ICAO rules and regulations.
- Maintaining currency requirements by type and ensuring the currency of aircraft crewmembers prior to flight.
- Ensuring compliance with customs, immigration, and cabotage laws.
- Leading the crew utilizing effective crew resource management in the accomplishment of all trip requirements.
- Completing all post-flight duties, including notifying the company of deviations to any planned itinerary or overnight location.
- Recording flight times and aircraft maintenance items.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior large turbine aircraft operating experience as PIC.
- Enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity for Aviation.

- Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Functional computer application skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in corporate/business aviation.
Specific Requirements/Qualifications:
- FAA-issued Air Transport Pilot certificate with multi-engine rating (GVI or GVII type rating preferred).
- English proficiency pilot certificate endorsement.
- Current, and ability to maintain, FAA first-class medical.
- Up-to-date immunization/vaccine record (subject to review by Amex Medical).
Non-considerations for sponsorship:
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $210,000.00 to $300,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits.
