About the Role:
The Captain, also known as the Pilot-in-Command (PIC), plays a critical role at Lowe's by providing safe and efficient air transportation for Lowe's Companies, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The Captain is responsible for adhering to operational guidelines outlined in The Lowe's Companies, Inc. Aviation Operations Manual (AOM) and all applicable FAA rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts weather briefings, fuel planning, and flight plan filings.
- Oversees transportation logistics, ensuring the safety of all passengers, crew, and cargo.
- Acts as the final authority in the operation of the aircraft, delegating necessary duties to the Second-in-Command.
- Ensures compliance with Lowe's Aviation Operations Manual, CFRs, international regulations, and company policies.
- Participates actively in the Safety Management System.
- Verifies the aircraft's airworthiness, registration, and required documentation.
- Evaluates weather conditions, NOTAMs, and determines fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
- Determines aircraft weight and balance.
- Maintains current databases and ensures Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) are updated and adequately charged.
- Confirms crewmember qualifications, including valid certificates, medical certificates, passports, and visas.
- Assesses crewmember fitness to fly, ensuring no impairment due to injury, sickness, fatigue, or psychoactive substances.
- Implements appropriate measures when crewmember capacity is significantly reduced due to fatigue, sickness, or oxygen deprivation.
- Confirms nonstandard environmental rules and procedures at departure and destination airports.
- Conducts preflight inspections before each departure.
- Provides passenger safety briefings.
- Operates the aircraft according to Lowe's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, and aircraft limitations.
- Continuously monitors fuel levels for safe landing and fuel reserves, communicating with ATC during abnormal situations.
- Ensures adherence to customs, immigration, and cabotage laws.
- Completes postflight duties, including notifying the Company of deviations to any planned itinerary, schedule, or overnight location.
- Records flight times and aircraft defects.
- Reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents to the Chief Pilot and/or Director of Aviation.
- Reports acts of unlawful interference to the FAA or State, as appropriate, and to the designated local authority.
- Reports hazardous weather or flight conditions to the appropriate ATC facility.
- Preserves flight and cockpit voice recorder data in the event of an accident/incident.
- Notifies the appropriate authority of any accident involving the aircraft.
Additional Responsibilities:
Captains are assigned additional duties within the Aviation Department in functional areas such as Training, Standards, Data Management, International Operations, and Security. These responsibilities are rotated amongst Captains to foster professional development.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 2,500 hours Total Flight Time, including 2,000 hours Multi-Engine
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- GVII - 500 Type Rating
- First Class Medical Certificate
- First Class Medical for International Flights
- Ability to handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
