Pilot (Functional Check Flight) – MH-60R/MH-60S
Overview
This position involves performing test flights to evaluate and demonstrate aircraft proficiency following aircraft maintenance or modifications. The pilot will be responsible for ensuring the aircraft meets all operational standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Pilot and navigate the MH-60R helicopter during functional check flights.
- Assist designated Functional Check Flight (FCF) pilots in all aspects of maintenance functional check flights, including pre-flight briefings, pre-flight inspections, flight checks, post-flight procedures, and comprehensive FCF documentation.
- Collaborate with maintenance contractors to troubleshoot in-flight discrepancies, verifying maintenance actions or repairs through ground and flight checks.
- Guide and assist in managing an approved MH-60R Flight Operations Program in accordance with Navy flight manuals, instructions, directives, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and local directives.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Designation as a Helicopter Aircraft Commander (HAC) is mandatory.
- Prior designation as an MH-60R or MH-60S Functional/Maintenance Check Pilot is required; current designation is highly preferred. Current or previous designation as an instructor is also desirable.
- Ability to perform all duties independently.
- Minimum of 550 total flight hours, 50 HAC hours in the MH-60R or MH-60S, and 100 hours of MH-60R or MH-60S FCF/Maintenance test flying are required.
- A Secret security clearance is essential.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
- Must pass an aeronautical/flight physical.
- The position requires climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and crouching.
