Maintenance Test Pilot - T44/T54 Platform
Overview
This position calls for a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Test Pilot to utilize their expertise in flight test techniques. The primary responsibility is to conduct test flights on assigned T44/T54 aircraft following maintenance or modifications. These flights will focus on evaluating performance and handling characteristics to determine the aircraft's airworthiness.
Principal Accountabilities
- Conduct comprehensive test flights after aircraft maintenance or modifications, demonstrating proficient aircraft operation.
- Determine aircraft airworthiness prior to flight authorization, adhering to established publications and procedures.
- Perform meticulous troubleshooting procedures both on the ground and during flight, documenting findings through detailed write-ups or verbal instructions for corrective action.
- Thoroughly verify all forms and records associated with maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with work performed prior to ground or flight checks.
- Execute aircraft run-ups for alert status to facilitate testing of modifications.
- Serve as a competent Aviation Safety Official, upholding stringent safety standards.
- Interpret and utilize meteorological data to prepare and file flight plans for all sorties, employing authorized processes.
- Maintain accurate and meticulous documentation of all flight activities.
- Adapt and excel in performing other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating navigational and communication equipment installed on assigned aircraft.
- Exhibit expertise in calculating and annotating weight and balance logs for the designated aircraft type.
- Successfully pass all required flight proficiency examinations.
- Possess a DOD Aviation Safety qualification and prior experience as an Aviation Safety Officer (preferred).
- Have logged a minimum of 1,000 hours of total flight time, including 300 hours in the same aircraft type and design, and 100 hours in the assigned T44/T54 aircraft.
- Meet the experience requirements outlined in AFR55-22, NOTAMS, AR95-10, AR95-20, and DCMA-8210 pertaining to the assigned aircraft, qualifying for pilot-in-command responsibilities on maintenance test flights.
- Hold an appropriate FAA Commercial Pilot's License for the designated aircraft type, fulfilling all qualifying experience requirements as per AR 95-20.
- Maintain a current FAA Medical Certificate Second Class or possess the ability to attain one.
- Have completed Military flight and/or applicable training courses.
- Meet additional experience and education requirements as specified for the assignment.
- Be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Successfully complete a required flight physical examination initially and annually thereafter during their birth month.
- Meet or exceed the flight time and physical requirements for piloting the designated aircraft type, adhering to FAA and U.S. Military minimum standards.
- Possess the visual acuity to observe aircraft in flight, interpret dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools, distinguish colors, and accurately judge three-dimensional depth.
- Be physically capable of ascending and descending vertical ladders or built-in aircraft steps to heights of 10-12 feet.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be able to obtain and maintain all company/government-required licenses, qualifications, certifications, and clearances.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Be flexible and adaptable to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in environments with extreme noise levels from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
- Experience working in environments with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock hazards, and moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Ability to adapt to a wide range of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and challenging infrastructure.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
