Pilot Minimum and Preferred Requirements
Prospective candidates must meet stringent regulatory and experiential criteria to be considered for this crucial role:
- Total Flight Time: Applicants must possess a documented minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time. Compliance with all prerequisites outlined in FAR 135.243(c) is mandatory for consideration.
- License Requirements: A current FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating are required. Alaska Seaplanes exclusively accepts FAA license holders.
- Medical Certification: Candidates must hold a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Type Rating: A specific aircraft type rating is not required prior to employment. Comprehensive, in-house training will be provided to successful candidates.
- Preferred Experience: The company strongly prefers applicants who can demonstrate a minimum of 100 hours of time in type. Extensive prior experience operating within the unique environmental conditions of Alaska is considered highly advantageous.
