About the Role

The Oklahoma Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) for the 138th Fighter Wing. This position is responsible for piloting unit-equipped aircraft on assigned missions and performing administrative tasks to support the Air Operations program. The role involves operating advanced, high-performance military aircraft under various conditions and maintaining mission qualifications.

About the Employer

Job Responsibilities

  • Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, on tactical and non-tactical missions.
  • Utilize advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.
  • Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, normal, instrument, and emergency procedures.
  • Prepare for flight, including weather assessment, route planning, flight plan filing, preflight checks, and crew/passenger briefings.
  • Operate aircraft with utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals and coordinating with ground units.
  • Perform post-flight activities, including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance.
  • Serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for safe and efficient mission accomplishment and directing emergency actions.
  • Perform administrative tasks in support of Air Operations, including training and scheduling, planning, safety programs, and Inspector General functions.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the National Guard.
  • Must be eligible for compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Must be willing to wear the military uniform.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must pass a federal employment suitability background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • May be required to qualify to operate government motor vehicles for maintenance purposes.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial air.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
  • Maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.
  • Military grades: O-1 through O-4.
  • Must possess 11F AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code).
  • At least two years of specialized experience in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components) or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
  • Experienced in piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
  • Experienced in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.
  • Experienced in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.
  • Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.
  • Experienced in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
  • Experienced in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.
  • Experienced in conducting or supervising crew member training.
  • Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
  • Experienced in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
  • Experienced in aviation unit quality control management programs.
  • Experienced in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.
  • Experienced in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, etc.
  • Experienced in traditional "stick and rudder" type controls for piloting aircraft.
  • Experienced in using aircraft instrumentation and aircraft-mounted video cameras.
  • Experienced in visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flight rule (IFR) flying.
  • Experienced in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controlled national airspace.
  • Experienced in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.
  • Experienced performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, etc.
  • Experienced in conducting particular missions and flying specific mainframe aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, performing landings on remote sites, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operations or instructions.
  • Experienced in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.
  • Experienced on weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.
  • Experienced with wartime and peacetime contingency plans and supplements.

Education

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory.
  • A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
  • Must have Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
