About the Role
The Oklahoma Air National Guard is seeking an Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the 138th Fighter Wing in Oklahoma. This role involves piloting unit-equipped military aircraft, executing tactical and non-tactical missions, and performing administrative tasks to support the Air Operations program. The position requires adherence to advanced flight techniques, meticulous flight preparation, and safe aircraft operation under various conditions.
Responsibilities
- Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft on assigned missions using precision instrument flight techniques.
- Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures, including emergency conditions.
- Prepare for flights by securing weather information, planning routes, and filing flight plans.
- Perform preflight checks, verify aircraft readiness, and brief passengers and crew.
- Operate aircraft with utmost safety, adhering to flight parameters and communicating with ground control.
- Accomplish post-flight activities, including maintaining aircraft logs and writing flight reports.
- Serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit.
- Rotate to perform administrative tasks in support of the Air Operations program, including training, planning, safety, and Inspector General functions.
Requirements
- Must be a member of the National Guard in a compatible military assignment.
- Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must successfully complete a federal employment suitability background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Must be willing to travel by military or commercial air.
- Must be able to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Must qualify to operate government motor vehicles for maintenance purposes.
- May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
- Maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.
- Military grades: O-1 through O-4.
- Mandatory qualification: 11F AFSC.
- Possess appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.
- General experience: Minimum of one year of on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level.
- Specialized experience: At least two years of working experience in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components) or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
- Experienced in piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
- Experienced in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.
- Experienced in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.
- Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.
- Experienced in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
- Experienced in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.
- Experienced in conducting or supervising crew member training.
- Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
- Experienced in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
- Experienced in aviation unit quality control management programs.
- Experienced in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.
- Experienced in various missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, or laser targeting.
- Experienced in traditional "stick and rudder" controls and aircraft instrumentation.
- Experienced in visual flight rules and instrument flying.
- Experienced in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through FAA-controlled airspace.
- Experienced in applying operational directives and training instructions.
- Experienced in working independently to plan and perform work assignments.
- Experienced in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.
- Experienced in performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, or directing emergency actions.
- Experienced in conducting particular missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, and conducting night-vision operations.
- Experienced in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, and emergency procedures.
- Experienced on weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.
- Experienced with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations, deployments, and redeployments.
Education
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory.
- A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
- Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications from accredited civilian aviation programs OR aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
