Overview

The Assistant Chief Pilot serves as a key operational leader responsible for pilot training, standardization, and regulatory compliance. This role drives the execution of flight and ground training programs, ensuring all pilots are qualified, mission-ready, and operating according to the highest safety standards. The incumbent oversees Check Airmen and Instructors, manages new hire indoctrination, and maintains close alignment with aviation, maintenance, and clinical leadership. This position plays a critical role in FAA compliance, incident response, and the development of operational manuals and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all flight and ground training qualifications and scheduling.
  • Supervise company pilots regarding regulatory issues and promote safe operations as part of the management team.
  • Maintain Check Airman and Flight/Ground Instructor status.
  • Develop, write, and implement training materials and examinations.
  • Conduct and audit new-hire indoctrination and simulator training.
  • Supervise the Flight Training and Standardization Department, including professional development of staff.
  • Ensure timely notification to the Chief Pilot or Director of Operations regarding significant training or operational incidents.
  • Contribute to the development of the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and aircraft checklists.
  • Assist in the development of the Training Department budget to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Conduct Pilot Review Boards for flight-related issues in the absence of the Chief Pilot.
  • Ensure thorough knowledge of company policies, the General Operations Manual, and FARs/AIM.
  • Provide direct supervision for Aviation department employees, including hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college or university and 5–8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2,500 flight hours.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Part 135 operation.
  • Minimum of two years of ground and flight training experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate preferred (Airplane or Rotorcraft).
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Instrument Instructor (CFII) preferred (Airplane or Rotorcraft).
  • FAA Second Class Medical required for check airman or instructor duties.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.

Additional Requirements

This position requires regular attendance, with the potential for occasional night and weekend work, and involves travel. The role is subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $108,500.00/Yr.
Maximum Pay: $162,750.00/Yr.
